The Druid Chronicles: Forbidden – Reviews

“Set in the time of the Roman Empire, Phillips’ wonderful story of the romance between a Roman soldier and a Celt is more than entertaining”  Pat Cooper, Romantic Times BOOK Review, 4 Stars. Full Review can be read here

“This book was gritty and primal. I felt I was in the Romans times and I loved it! Maximus is pure, raw male and too sexy for words. I could understand by Carys was enthralled with him and wanted him despite him being her enemy. I am also a sucker for star crossed lovers and a really evil villain. It made this book very thrilling as I hoped Maximus and Carys would be able to evade Aeron’s nefarious plans and end up happily together.”  5 Stars Steph, Bookaholics Romance Book Club. “The sexy elements of the book did not overpower the plot or the characterisation, but added to their love story. The real heart of the book is the emotional elements between them, and I really liked how that was played out throughout the book. Although the well written love scenes added a sensual layer of heat and passion, and *fans self*, I will never think of Roman Baths the same way again.”  Has, The Book Pushers. “FORBIDDEN is full of erotic goodness and endless action. Carys and her lover are not helpless beings but both use faith to succeed. A good chunk of this novel is about a woman’s inner struggle between what she believes and what she desires, and her unwavering faith in a goddess who may have abandoned her. You will love this novel and agree when I say… I can’t wait for the next installment in the Forbidden series.” Becky Pena, Fresh Fiction, Full Review can be read here.

“This is what I loved. The setting (Britain under Roman occupation), the Druid history, the characters, the sexual heat that was equal to the emotional connection between the Carys and Maximus, the tension, the conflict, the great narrative… If you love not only erotica, but also stories with well written characters, and great historical detail, you won’t make a mistake by picking up FORBIDDEN.”  Recommended Read, 5 Klovers Lynette,CK2S Kwips and Kritiques. Caught in the middle are two lovers, on opposing sides, forced to either fight against each other or fight for the chance to stay together. ” Lisa, The Season for Romance. “The characters keep the reader deeply entrenched in the mesmerizing plot and within a time period that you will not want to leave even when you reach the last page. Forbidden is a delightful read and one you are sure to enjoy if you like historical romance with a lot of sizzle and a dash of magic that will take your breath away. Enjoy!” Susan, Night Owl Erotica. “I love how Christina immerses us so totally in that ancient world, where almost everyone was barbaric, but also so honest and true. To the Romans, honor is everything, no more so than with Maximus. He leaps off the page, foreboding, virile, all male, all the time..A lush love story steeped in a fiery physical heat that will ignite the pages. I was enthralled and totally caught up in this wonderful story.” Karyn Gerrard, The Romanorum. Full Review can be read here.

“All I have to say about Forbidden is…WOW! Maximus turned out to be a strong male lead. He had a take charge attitude, which I would expect from a Roman centurion. Maximus made me think of Russell Crowe. Both good looking, dominate males. The only thing Forbidden about this book is that it would be a sin to not pick up a copy and check it out for yourself today!” Cheryl, Manic Readers. Full Review can be read here.

“There is nothing better than a well done historical romance and Forbidden by Christina Phillips is a fantastic look at the forbidden love that develops between a Druid princess and a Roman centurion during the Roman invasion of Britain. Ms. Phillips did an excellent job immersing us in this time period and in providing a plot that moved at an engaging pace which kept my attention glued to the story.” Reviewer’s Choice Award, 4.5 Rose, TwoLips Reviews. “Ms. Phillips skill in creating sexual tension that simmers and explodes from the first meeting between Carys and Maximus is palpable. While their love scenes are filled with erotic passion and grace it doesn’t overpower the story, but rather enhances their developing love adding dimension to their developing personalities and relationship…

“It’s satisfying to find a new author whose debut novel is so impressive with attention to detail giving us a glimpse into the life of these Roman legionaries and Celts, but also wrapping it all up in a fantastical and engrossing story to give us a compelling and spellbinding romance. I’m sure I’ll be re-reading Forbidden many times. I highly recommend Forbidden and for these reasons I recommend a Gold Star Award.” Aggie Tsirikas, Just Erotic Romance Reviews.

“If you’re looking for a red-hot, blistering read with magic, clashing civilisations and romance then grab a copy of Forbidden. You will not be able to put it down! Now I want a Roman centurion of my own!” Strange Candy Reviews. Full Review can be read here

“Christina Phillips has a nice way with words and setting up a story. Her love scenes have just the right amount of heat and should appeal to those readers who like a little more spice and passion. Forbidden was an enjoyable read by an author who can really tap into the emotions of her characters and the world around them. For a solid reading experience, I would recommend Forbidden.” Katiebabs, Babbling About Books, And More. Full Review can be read here
